Interdisciplinary Studies in the Humanities

Abstract With due attention to growing need of countries for energy resources, new and diverse topics in the field of law and energy have been designed that strengthen extensive interdisciplinary studies and researches in this field. The legal dimension of the exploitation of energy types, including the protection of the environment, foreign investment, and the creation of legal mechanism at domestic and international levels, energy security, and other issues of countries necessitates interdisciplinary studies and the publication of legal researches related to energy substantially. Energy Law is one of the interdisciplinary majors that have been taken into consideration in faculties of several countries, including Australia, England, the United States, and Canada. The fact that Energy Law as a major can itself be under other specialized courses which increase its value as an academic field and it can be said that the establishment of "Energy Law" as an interdisciplinary major, considering its scope and content in the curriculum of the faculty of law of other countries, including Iran, is undeniable. This article tries to provide an appropriate context for energy law as an interdisciplinary major to the students of law and other related disciplines.  For this purpose, in addition to explaining the concept, characteristics and status of energy, we will examine the principles, elements and levels of this major.

Abstract The interaction between law and ideology is both complex and contentious. This stems from differences in opinions on the definitions of the two concepts and the various ways in which ideology and law might be related to one another. Moreover, the existing diversity in the literature concerning ideology takes the biggest share of the blame. Hence, to clarify the relationship between ideology and law, one must first do an interdisciplinary study of the existing approaches towards the concept of ideology, as well as its general and specific definitions, and ultimately, the selected definition of ideology must be presented. The theories regarding the relationship between ideology and law may be divided into three categories, namely, autonomy of law, subordination of law to the ideology, and the influence of ideology. Interdisciplinary studies show that the first theory has not been successful in proving the autonomy of law. Likewise, the second theory has failed to address and respond to substantial issues as to its claims. Lastly, the influence of ideology theory has failed to deal with how ideology has been reciprocally affected by law. Nevertheless, the idea advocating the reciprocal relationship between law and ideology, while assuming a particular meaning of ideology, has drawn our attention to the importance of political and sociological factors in understanding law, highlighting the role of law in changes in the prevailing political culture and the dominant ideology in the society.

Abstract Imam Sadiq University was established as a non-governmental academic institution in Iran in 1982 aiming at combining certain branches of Humanities with Islamic studies. In this article the author tries to evaluate the success and failure of declared aims of the ISU founders to make Islamic Studies not only relevant to the needs of contemporary societies but rather an integrated part of academic discipline. This paper is an attempt to introduce this innovation in combining Islamic studies with other academic subjects, namely, Political Sciences, Management, Economics, Law and Communications at ISU and tries to explore the challenges facing this endeavor.
