Abstract
Art is one of the most dynamic areas of human life; where the artist sees his work as a creation and presents a new curtain to man at every moment. But these artistic creations do not all have the same fate. Some make a splash; but they pass very quickly and leave no trace of themselves. Others remain in the historical memory of people. What is the secret of this difference? To answer this question, the present research focuses on the field of music and explores the question from the perspective of institutional theories: how do some musical innovations become established in the minds of the audience and others are forgotten? What path should be taken so that a new style of music is established in the minds of the audience and not forgotten? This research is based on an interpretive qualitative approach and uses the data-based theory method. Archival data and interviews with a number of innovative musical groups were collected over a specific period of contemporary Iranian history, and the reasons for their creation and establishment, or their disappearance and oblivion, were extracted and examined using content analysis. Finally, based on the analysis of the interviews, a process model is presented that describes the various steps that a musical innovation must take to become memorable. This model is compared with previous findings in institutional theory, and it is shown that the dynamics of artistic creations in the social sphere are influenced by factors that have not been well theorized before.
